- The regulatory framework of your event. An FIA-homologated event must rely on hardware listed on Technical List 98; a private or regional event has more latitude. Check this before anything else: it can restrict the list of eligible beacons independently of the software platform you choose.
- The crew and spectator experience. Is the app branded to your event, or to the provider? For an audience of spectators and sponsors, a live map shared by link often matters more than a list of technical features.
- Race control tools. SOS alerts, abnormal-stop detection, checkpoint validation, real-time leaderboard: note what is available natively and what would require custom development before the event.
- The pricing model. All-inclusive package or separate hardware and software billing: both logics exist. Ask for the price per crew per race day, not just the entry rate, to compare on the same basis.
- Support during the event. Access to a tool is not the same as a team you can reach at the start of a stage. Ask what is actually planned during the race, not just before it.
